If the narrow streets of Zanzibar’s Stone Town could talk, they’d tell a colourful story filled with a melting pot of cultural influences.

It would start with the Age of Exploration when Zanzibar became part of the Portuguese Empire, and go on to tell tales of the Sultan of Oman. It would weave in years of the spice, ivory and slave trade, and climax with British rule.

Today, Zanzibar is part of mainland Tanzania, but its story is still continuing. A visit to Zanzibar allows you a privileged glimpse into its past, but more importantly, it also makes you part of its future.
